Stop Smoking Easily And Permanently

By: Lou Ryan Home | Self-Improvement

Permanent smoking cessation â€" it’s not just a pipe dream. In fact, learning how to stop smoking forever is relatively easy, as long as you understand what smoking is. Smoking is often categorized as a physical addiction, but the truth is that smoking goes much deeper, and has much more complicated roots. To stop smoking permanently, you have to uproot the addiction at its source, which means understanding the psychological and emotional components of the addiction.

Even the most die-hard smokers will acknowledge that smoking is not physically attractive. Yet, simply focusing on the physical manifestations of smoking will not help you quit permanently. So many people have tried and failed to quit due to their insistence on treating smoking as simply a physical problem.

Effective smoking cessation programs focus on ridding you of the desire to smoke, which means identifying what emotional triggers are affecting you and prompting you to light up. Once you understand where your desire to smoke comes from, you can effectively shut it down. This mental release is deeply powerful, and defeats the addiction that most cessation programs are unable to tackle. Once your emotions can be dealt with in a straightforward manner, you will no longer feel the need to smoke. This lack of desire is the key to quitting smoking permanently.

After this significant mental and emotional breakthrough, you will be surprised at how easy it becomes to not smoke. Much like removing a blindfold, dealing directly with the mental and emotional roots of addiction is very freeing. Instead of reaching for a cigarette or cigar or even chewing tobacco to alleviate your stress and emotional difficulties, you will instead be able to confront your issues head-on, thus sparing your lungs from another toxic deluge.

Quitting smoking for good is easy, as long as you understand how. While many programs advocate the use of other substitutes, including patches, nothing is as effective or simpler than completely removing the urge to smoke. You can stop fighting with yourself, and start focusing on living your life the way you want to â€" completely, and permanently, without smoking.
