By: Judy Esmond Home | Health-and-Fitness

Stress can be overpowering in your life. However, the ability of your mind is a highly effective pressure in your personal experience of stress. In applying effective stress relief and stress management strategies, it's truly the power of your own mind that acts in a pivotal role. While you're experiencing anxiousness, apprehension, fear, tenseness and dread then your mind frequently decides how you respond to these stressful feelings.

STRESS AND A DIFFERENT MINDSET

Your mind and therefore, your perspective makes an enormous difference. When you look at your worries from a different perspective and with a different mindset you will find other ways of handling the stressful situation. A situation that seems particularly distressing and overwhelming can change when your mindset changes.

YOUR MIND AND THE 4 IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

So whenever you are dealing with a stressful situation, take the time to slow down, breathe and ask yourself these 4 very important questions. When you ask yourself these questions, your answers can alter your feelings and your mindset about how stressed you really are. These 4 questions will always help you in developing effective stress management and stress relief techniques. So here we go with your questions.

FROM A STRESSFUL PROBLEM TO A CHALLENGE

Question 1. How can I change this stressful problem into a challenge? Sometimes by asking yourself this question it slows down your emotional reaction to the situation and the associated stressors. Something that seems like a problem can change when you change your mindset. It can change from a problem and instead can become a challenge. You start to consider more strategically how you can change the experience from being a problem to more of a stress challenge for you.

LEARNING FROM YOUR STRESS EXPERIENCE

Question 2. When I deal with this challenge, what can I learn from it? Often the hardest challenges you have in your life can really teach you the greatest lessons. Those challenges are not easy but provide you with the ability to gain power over your stress. The lessons you learn are invaluable for you now and in the future.

OTHER PEOPLE AND THEIR STRESS MANAGEMENT

Question 3. Has anyone else experienced this stress challenge that I am dealing with now? Once you ask yourself this question, your frame of reference can alter further as you realize that you are not alone. Most often others have experienced similar pressures and stress in dealing with similar situations. You can learn so much from such other people. Find those who have already dealt with the challenges you are now facing and causing you stress. Find out from these people how they handled the situation, what worked for them and what did not work. Instead of struggling on alone, work towards finding others who have had similar experiences and learn from them.

FEELING EMPOWERED IN USING STRESS MANAGEMENT AND STRESS RELIEF METHODS

Question 4. How will I feel empowered after facing and dealing with this stressful situation? Even when the circumstances and situation turns out different to what you hoped for, you have faced it. The fact that you have dealt with it and taken some action is certainly something to feel proud of and empowered about. Finding ways to deal with your stress and the situations that cause you stress is an empowering experience in your life. It also ensures that if you come across a similar stressful situation again you are better able to handle it. You will have greater power over what stress management and stress relief techniques you use.

CHANGING YOUR MINDSET WITH THESE QUESTIONS

So your feelings of stress, anxiety, burden, strain and pressure can change when you use the power of your own mind and change your mindset. Use these 4 questions whenever you are faced with a stressful experience in your life. You will then begin to understand your own ability to develop effective stress management techniques to deal with stress. It really is time to explore just how powerful your mind can really be in dealing with stress.
