Stretching Exercise For Warm Up, Stretch Muscles

Scientifically performed workout emphasizes on stretching exercise before and after workout. For any kind of workout like aerobics, weightlifting or cardio exercise, your body has to be prepared first and that is what stretching exercise does. It helps reduce the body stiffness and relax the muscles improving their flexibility for various movements. Proper stretching eases the blood circulation in the body increasing the body temperature up to the level just suitable for the beginning of workout.

Stretching muscles when they're cold increases your risk of injury, including pulled muscles. Warm up by walking while gently pumping your arms, or do a favorite exercise at low intensity for five minutes. Better yet, stretch after you exercise â€" when your muscles are warm and more receptive to stretching.
One caveat: If you plan to stretch only after your workout, increase the intensity of the activity more slowly than you would if you had stretched your muscles before exercising.

There are many exercises for Stretch. Knee to chest from above position, straighten one leg and pull the other knee into your chest until you feel a stretch in your hip. Quadriceps stretch is the muscle in the front of the thigh, important for lifting your knees and increasing your speed. It is the "quads" that often go at the end of marathons, causing runners to come shuffling across the finish line because they have a hard time lifting their feet off the ground. In lunge position, rest back knee on the floor, with front knee at 90 degree angle, abs in. Gently press forward until you feel a stretch in the front of the leg/hip. Switch legs. Inner Thigh Stretch-Sit on floor with feet pressed together. Keeping abs in, lean forward until you feel a gentle stretch in your inner thighs.

When performing exercises, be it weight lifting for building and toning muscles or cardio exercises for endurance and to reduce weight, most people do not do stretching exercises adequately even though stretching exercises can be performed by anyone at any age unless that person has some physical disability to stretch. Many even do not stretch before and after exercising.

You may also ask your teaching pro if he could recommend some stretching that you can do to improve your flexibility. You might start these at the beginning of your practice session and then the pro will be able to tell you if you are doing them correctly or if you need to change them around to accommodate your abilities. After practice and before your round you can continue the exercises on your own.
