Studies On Synthetic Grass Safety

By: brayan.peter Home | Home-and-Family | Landscaping-Gardening

Synthetic grass is the most preferred when compared to real grass these days. As this is largely applied on football fields, playgrounds, day cares, schools and backyards of homes, and the safety becomes the important aspect. When it comes to infills which is generally filled in with sand and rubber, when this is used regularly they will turn stability. Now most of the faux grasses are made from softer materials, and players end up with lesser ankle strains, knee and head injuries. When children use artificial turfs and when they end up falling over it, the synthetic grass is able to withstand the impact causing fewer injuries. Usually the synthetic grass is made of polyethylene or polypropylene, these synthetic grass blades usually do not get stained with harmful bacteria or insects as living organisms won’t be able to flourish on them. So when kids play on artificial turf they will not get any infections. There is nothing to be worried that synthetic grass can be toxic and harmful.

To in order to assure the public about artificial turf, synthetic grass companies are doing their best to educate people regarding its benefits. They have begun testing and carrying out lot of research on synthetic grass fields. Some of the testing includes, checking of how long the grass surface is safe after many hours of its usage, to check if the grass blades crumble or break due to exposure to heat and sunlight. It is also checked how the rubber infills react to all kinds of stress and how much and how long it can absorption shock and pressure. The synthetic grass companies are also keeping a track of the older artificial lawns, to study how these lawns are reacting. The firms are also offering regular maintenance which includes cleaning, refilling the infills, etc., if the grass is subjected to any sort of wear and tear, the company immediately attends to it.

If it is proved that natural lawns contain more microorganisms like bacteria and fungi and people tend to use more chemicals like pesticides, weedicides and herbicides; hence real grass is also more harmful and it might also affect your pets and kids when they play on it. Studies on faux grass have also been proved that they can save gallons of precious water, as synthetic turfs require no watering and this is definitely an added benefit when compared to natural grass. Apart from this, there are also some studies been made on infill. So next time you needn’t think twice before installing artificial grass, just go head and enjoy the benefits of fake lawn!
