Well, it’s about that time again. No, not Toyotathon. The exact opposite, in fact. It’s time once again for consumers to turn their scathing eyes upon what companies are doing to promote corporate responsibility. And you can certainly see why; the recent allegations against Toyota by the driving public and the federal government have left a lot of drivers scratching their heads and wondering where the dominant automotive automaker went wrong. Days like these, it’s time to look at the positives. So just what ARE manufacturers and major brands doing to promote corporate responsibility? Subaru dealers in Ft. Myers are extremely proud of what the automaker does outside of regular operations to promote social responsibility in the corporate sector. For the second consecutive year, Subaru will be holding its Share the Love event, which will give back to charities like Boys & Girls Club of America, Habitat for Humanity International, Meals on Wheels Association of America, National Wildlife Federation and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. For more information on any of these charities, visit their websites or stop by your Ft. Myers Subaru dealership. Subaru of America Senior Vice President and CMO Tim Mahoney had this to say about the program: â€Last year we created the Share the Love program to help charities and give back to the community. Thanks to our customers, we donated $4.6 million to those organizations. We are continuing the program this year not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because it is part of our culture as an organization to support causes important to our customers.†Subaru dealers in Ft. Myers are glad to hear that the event will take place for its second year and hope it will become an annual tradition. But it’s only one of many events held by Subaru. While some of the charity outreach is performed at a corporate level, some of it is performed at an individual dealership level †which could mean you might see a similar kind of event at Subaru dealers in Ft. Myers in the coming years. Thus far, one of the more recent (and successful) local events took place at an Indiana Subaru dealer, which hosted the second annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The event was held on October 10, 2009 at the SIA grounds in Lafayette, IN, where participants in the 5K were able to raise both awareness and a sum of $23,693.05 for breast cancer research. This kind of successful event might reach your Ft. Myers Subaru dealership in the coming years, so keep your eyes open if you’re looking for a new venue to help combat disease through your community. For more information on some of the other exciting and upcoming charity events sponsored by Subaru, visit a Ft. Myers Subaru dealership and let them know you appreciate what they’re doing for communities across the country. Staying active in your community is a great way to give back and take part in a variety of charity activities.
