Surround Speaker Stands

By: Andrew Maule Home | Arts-and-Entertainment

Today, it has become easy to mount your surround speakers in style using surround speaker stands. These will accommodate any satellite and small surround equipment by most manufacturers. Mini speakers may be a tad too small for the regular stands (the stand may seem wobbly), but many people say it works too. The stands do not take up much space, and are easy to place at ear level for excellent sound quality.

The stands come in a number of finishes, including black satin, titanium, silver and platinum. They typically have a slim poll and a wide metal base. They may have wood accents to enhance their visual appeal. Most designs are very elegant. The commonly used metals are cast iron and cast aluminum. The heavier units, such as the ones made of cast iron, are typically better. They stand nice and sturdy, and are more durable.

Many of the products have adjustable mounts and multiple brackets. If the height is not adjustable, you may want to ensure that it fits your requirements prior to purchasing your new stands - proper stands are important for any home entertainment system. There are units with carpet spikes and without. If you wish to place them on carpeting, you may want to look for those with spikes. Most have a concealed wire path for cable management.

Most products come with assembling instructions, and are easy to assemble and mount (unlike wall mounting of the speakers). They require only minimal assembly and take just minutes to setup. There are some excellent surround speaker stands that cost 2-3 times less than others, so do shop around to get good value for the lowest price.
