Symptom And Remedial Solution Of Ringworm Treatment

What is Ringworm?

Ringworm is a common fungal infection that results from dermatophytes, a microscopic organism living on the dead skin layer. Anyone can get affected by this disease and especially if a person lives in hot and humid climate or has direct contact with wound on pet or has a weaker immune system, the person is more prone to ringworm. It is a fact that direct contact with infected people, animals or inanimate object easily transmits this fungal infection. Ringworm infection can also be developed by coming into contact with domestic pet or from the soil. Though it is a common infection but it should never be taken lightly as it symptoms are highly contagious and spread easily. Ringworm treatment should never be avoided as person suffering from ringworm can developed permanent scars and can have severe discomfort that can lead to serious consequences.

Characteristics of Ringworm

Ringworm, a fungal infection is an itchy and unpleasant experience and it mostly affects the scalp, hands, feet, groin etc. The characteristic of this fungal infection is round ring shaped rash that appears on the skin and is usually treated with the antifungal medication or antifungal essential oils. Antifungal essential oils are the most effective and natural means of treating ringworm. If the ringworm wound fails to respond to this antifungal medication after one week of treatment then the person should immediately seek the doctor advice. Generally ringworm infections are not so serious but sometime it may results in increased pain, fever, swelling, redness or drainage.

Treatment of Ringworm

There are several types of ringworm and some ringworm infection get cured without any treatment but some type of ringworm infections require proper medical treatment where an anti fungal medications cream are applied on the lesions. A person suffering from ringworm needs to apply anti fungal cream to the lesion and one inch beyond the wound. This cream should be twice applied daily for a minimum of two weeks and should be continued for another one week after the wound disappear. The infected area should always be kept dry and clean as this infection is highly contagious. A person should maintain hygiene by properly washing the hand and body and laundering the clothes and linen of the infectious person. Anti fungal therapy is ideal if a person is suffering from only one or two lesions.
