Tebow Last Home Game Will Be Something To Remember

By: Frank R. Bilotta Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Football

When people say Tim Tebow is the â€big man on campus†that’s an understatement, the University of Florida quarterback is a living legend not only on the campus, but also all across the southeastern states. While there have been many great football players that have come out of the Gator program in the past none of them have had such a positive impact on the campus as much as Tebow.

When Florida host in state rival the Florida State Seminoles this weekend which will be the gators last home game of the year, but more importantly it will be Tebow’s last home game as a Gator. To show how much Tebow has meant to the university and all of the fans, to honor him the fans at the game and even the ones at the local establishment will be wearing eye black just like Tebow has been doing for the last 20 games. There are many players who wear eye black to protect their eyes from the sun during bright days in the sunshine state. But not many of them write a new quote from the Bible under their eyes to show how they are feeling at that time.

Its not that Tebow is trying to push his beliefs on people, he is just a very spiritual person that was born into a family of Christian missionaries and often spent his summers in the Philippines doing volunteer work for families in need. The thing that separates him from the rest of the people is he also does the same kind of charitable work around the state of Florida whenever he can. Many people including his teammates thought it was an act when Tebow first arrived at campus, but year after year he continued on and now many of his teammates have joined in to help whenever they can.

While it may seem like a small thing, you have to think back to the way the Florida players were acting and behaving on and off the field. Yes they still have problems like any other big time program, but you do not see players getting cut from the program for robberies or cheating in school like they use too. Like it or not Tebow has changed the way the Gator players carry themselves on and off the field. If Tebow had chosen to attend the University of Alabama instead of Florida the Gators program would’ve probably been under the same scrutiny that Florida State program is under now.

This may be Tebow’s last home game as a Gator but you better belief he has left his mark not only at his university but also the history of college football. While at the university he has won the Davey O’Brien Award (Nations best quarterback), Harley Award (College football player of the year), 2x Maxwell Award (being adjudged the best football player in the United States), 2x Espy Award (Best male college athlete), Heisman Trophy (Most Outstanding player in college football), SEC Scholar (Top scholar athlete of the year in the South Eastern conference), and many more.

Even after so many great accomplishments on the field, Tebow is more excited about the work he has done off the field and also the â€Tim Tebow Billâ€. As of right now the Bill is trying to get past in legislature in the states of Alabama and Kentucky that allows home schooled kids like Tebow, to have the chance to play sports for their local high schools in the district they live in.
