A credit card is a credit card, no matter who is carrying it, and no one is immune to the powers of this small plastic that has dragged millions to the ground from incurring huge debts. Surveys conducted on teen credit card statistics show that the figures are just similar to the statistics of other regular card holders. There have been studies performed on teens spending money through the credit cards they have been given and the results are really concerning for the adults. In the United States, for example, the statistics have shown that the balances on the credit cards of most teenagers are huge. That is a phenomenon that tends to increase, even though this must not happen, because their needs for credit are not that large. Traditionally, teens are just allowed to use cards that are extensions from their parent's credit cards. Chances are they do not yet understand the full concept of having a credit card and the pitfalls that come with it. The teen credit card debt statistics is one tool that adults can use to educate the teenagers about the plastic, its benefits and conveniences and its hazards, too. This is a good chance to help teens understand the flow and the system of credit cards so they can start making the statistics incline towards a positive aspect. This can be done by proper education. Early on, it is important for teenagers to be educated and taught the basics of how to manage their finances in general. If they cannot understand the concept and the consequences of card misuse, no improvement in the teen credit card debt statistics will happen. Teens need to know that every acquisition they make using a credit card will return at the end of the month under the form of a bill which, unless paid on time, will increase very fast getting them into a world of trouble and worries. This will help them learn faster that a credit card is not a passport to free shopping. Eventually, they will understand the real value of money. In order to be trained and educated about handling their finances, teens must be asked to maintain control of their pocket money and record every penny they spend. One way to do it, is to create a bank account for your teen child and give him/her instructions on the numerous features of taking charge of money in the bank. Firstly, teens must be taught how to make basic transactions, and when they become accustomed with the bank and the way money is managed, you may get them a debit card. They can get a credit card limited and insured by their parents. They must be educated so that they do not fall into the trap of credit card debts. Such training will be useful before they enter the real world and become independent, and will also contribute to the decrease of the debt statistics.
