There are two wealth secrets I'd like to take the time to share with you. Each of them may sound a little counterintuitive at first--but I can promise you they are two of the biggest wealth secrets you can adopt in your life (they certainly have been in mine). How the 1% Rule will change your life 100%. It may sound like really bad math, but you can change your life a hundred percent by consistently changing it only one percent. How is this so? The key here is consistency. Imagine for a minute that you are planning to walk in a straight line down a straight road. As long as you do not deviate from your path, you will still be on the road after one mile, two miles, or three. But let's say you want to aim to the right about one percent (roughly three and a half degrees, if you'd rather think in terms of geometry). Your course won't look very different after fifty feet. But once you have travelled a mile, you will long since have made your way out of the road. And that's a good thing--you could easily get hurt walking down the middle of the street! The same rule applies to the way you live your life. Do something different--and do it every day--and you'll eventually end up somewhere else than if you had remained on the track you were on. It doesn't matter what that change is. Maybe it means you'll try just a little harder at work, or arrive five minutes early every day. It could mean that you try to reduce your bills by one percent, or get your credit card interest rates lowered by a single percentage point (a wealth secret that can save you a great deal of money in the long run.) Any small yet positive change can bring more wealth, health, and happiness into your life--as long as you are consistent about it. So go ahead and make that slight change. You'll be happy with where it takes you. Using instant gratification to reach your long term goals. Most people think that instant gratification and the realization of long-term goals are two incompatible frames of mind. The wealth secret here is in managing to combine the two to be happy today as well as in the future. The key to this most magical of wealth secrets is to do today what you want to do in the future--even if you can't do it all the way yet. Let's say you want to put $500 into a CD or savings account every month. But right now you can't even afford $50! No problem there--simply put $5 in your savings account every time you collect your income. When you do it, think about how good it will feel to put $500 into savings some day. Then, congratulate yourself for having done it. No matter how much you actually put in, congratulate yourself for the $500. This will get you in the habit of thinking of yourself as wealthy, and that is one of the greatest wealth secrets of all.
