The 2011 Kia Sedona: Simple Yet Excellent In Performance

By: Andy H Taylor Home | Automotive | Automotive-Accessories

The 2011 Kia Sedona is simple but it performs well. It is certainly worth its price. It may not receive high praises for its exterior look but it is packed with safety features such as ABS disc brakes, stability control, traction control, tire pressure-monitoring system and a total of six airbags for maximum protection in case of a collision. The NHTSA has given the 2011 Sedona a five-star rating for car crash safety. It was considered as one of the safest minivans currently in the market.

There are two types of wheelbase for the 2011 Sedona. The first type is the short wheelbase at 113.8 inches in length. The second type is the long wheelbase at 118.9 inches in length. It comes with an engine with a 3.5-liter capacity, 271 horsepower V6 plus a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Sedona with a longer wheelbase also has more room for cargo by more than 20 cubic feet of cargo space. It also has a more spacious third row for more leg room and head space. The longer wheelbase has a base curb weight that is 20 pounds heavier than the short wheelbase model.

Compared to the older model, the 2011 Sedona has more horsepower. The greater horsepower in combination with the six-speed automatic transmission makes the 2011 Sedona more fuel efficient with an increase in fuel economy rating by 2mpg compared to the 2010 model of the Sedona.

The Sedona also has a new styling with the addition of the tabbed grille. The Sedona is now fitted with 16-inch wheels with optional 17-inch alloy wheels for the EX model.

The interior of the 2011 Sedona has a triple-zone air conditioning unit that is a great improvement from the usual two-zone air conditioning in most vehicles. The steering wheel has built-in controls for the audio system. Other standard features are the Bluetooth connectivity option and the EcoMinder indicator.

Safety features include two front airbags, front-mounted side airbags and side curtain airbags for all seat rows. The braking system of the 2011 Sedona is made up of four-wheel ABS discs. It also has added safety features such as the stability control, traction control, electronic brake distribution and the brake assist. It has a fuel economy rating of 18 mpg for city driving and 25 mpg for highways.
