The 4 Best Credit Cards You Need To Own

By: john matthew Home | Finance | Credit

There used to be a time when people lived without credit cards, but that is not a reality anymore. Today, people need a couple of different credit cards. Here are four that we believe everyone should have available to them:

Best Credit Cards#1: Points credit card. Find a points card that gives you points for the kinds of purchases you make and keep it in your wallet. For example, if you fly a lot, get a frequent flier credit card. If you like reward points that you can redeem for something else, get a points card that will give you those particular points. Make this your primary card and put all of your credit card purchases on it so you can gain points with every purchase.

This is the only card you need to keep in your wallet! The remaining 3 cards should be kept in a safe place for the following purposes:

Best Credit Cards #2: Balance transfer credit card. A balance transfer card gives you a low (or even zero) percent interest rate on all transfers. Do not use this card for purchases (because purchase interest is higher). Instead, use it only to transfer the balances of the points credit card that you haven't been able to pay off. That way, you can take advantage of the attractive interest rate.

Best Credit Cards #3: Low interest credit card. Find a low interest credit card and put a low purchase limit on it. This is a special card and you should not actually keep it in your wallet. Instead, keep it in a safe place near your computer. Use it only for online purchases. That way, if someone were to ever get that credit card number, they won't be able to get very far with it. And, it's much easier to review all of your online purchases in one place.

BONUS best credit cards: Low interest credit card. If you travel a lot, keep another credit card for emergencies. When you travel, add it to your wallet. That way, should there ever be a problem and you need to access money quickly, this card will help.

Occasionally, you might need another card for work or you might need two primary points cards if stores don't always accept one of them. However, the four cards listed above are the best credit cards for most people.
