There are countless dieting programs out there to choose from, both on and offline. Just the Internet alone has a bewildering number of diet plans to choose from. Now finding a healthy and non-harmful diet can be a lot more challenging. Sometimes, finding a diet program that is ideal for you is a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. Regardless of which program you choose, there are some basic rules that must always be adhered to. There are 5 basics to effective weight loss which we will cover in this article. 1. Metabolism is the primary factor which determines the success of weight loss: Your metabolic rate will dictate how much or how little weight you will lose over time. If, for instance, you have a high metabolism, you will be able to lose a lot of weight in a relatively short timeframe. If, on the other hand, your metabolism is low, then weight loss will be more challenging. In this case, you may need to consider using some metabolism increasers such as weight loss pills or other supplements. 2. You must exercise on a regular basis: If you are planning not to exercise, then weight loss will be very difficult for you to achieve, even if you stay on your diet. To lose weight effectively, you need to exercise on a regular basis. Now your exercise does not need to be high intensity but you do need to be consistent. Aerobics and cardio exercises are both very effective at burning fat. Keep in mind that walking is one of the best overall activities that you can do, and it is enjoyable as well. 3. Do not lose your weight too fast: It is difficult to be patient and sometimes the temptation is overwhelming to shed the pounds quickly. Your aim should be to lose around 1 to 2 pounds per week. If your weight loss is faster than that, then you run the risk of doing serious damage to your health. It never hurts to consult with your family doctor before starting a diet. 4. Minimize your intake of junk food as well as foods that are either high in saturated fats or sugar: even though you have likely heard this advice many times before, it is worth repeating as it is so critical. Now it is okay to eat a small amount of bad food just to satisfy the cravings, but really try to keep it down to a minimum. 5. If you have obesity within your family, then weight loss will be more difficult for you. If you have parents who are overweight, then you will be more inclined to gain weight due to the genetic tendency of obesity. Now, this in no way means that you can’t lose weight so you shouldnâ€t use this as an excuse for failure. It just means that weight loss for you will require more persistence. Good luck with your dieting program.
