Mississauga 2009 David Mellor, President of Stokes International, is starting the birthday party this month. David’s grandfather started the company in 1949 and David’s father took it over in 1961, so a special program has been initiated at Stokes to honour the founders and to give back to the community. Mellor stated this month, â€This industry has been very good to my family over the years and I want to give back as a gesture to my father and grandfather. I am announcing that we will make a donation to Muscular Dystrophy as a percentage of sales this year. I would like to make it on behalf of all Stokes’ customersâ€. The staff members at Stokes have all endorsed the idea and are making extra efforts to ensure its success. Lisa Pavao who has been at Stokes for 12 years doing design, taking orders and much more, said, â€as a member of the Stokes family, I believe in the philosophy of giving backâ€. Meagen Resendes, a 10 year veteran doing many of the customer service functions stated, â€I also work with children with special needs and I’m enthusiastic that we have decided to support MDâ€. Mal Wood, a retired firefighter in BC, has worked almost every day for a charity in his hometown as a firefighter, expressed his sentiments, â€I used to be the Chair for the Advisors Group for MD in British Columbia, so I’m a big believer †I’m thrilled that Stokes is going this routeâ€. Barb Krzywoszanski, the sales agent for Stokes in Quebec, who donates time and money to firefighters’ charities, is solidly behind this initiative, stating, â€Our business feels a need to help the disenfranchised and MD is a terrific charity already supported by firefightersâ€. Her partner, Don Bareki, who has military experience, knows about giving and sacrifices for others. Bert Fusk, who is a retired fire chief (after 30 years in the business) in New Brunswick, represents Stokes in the Maritimes, said, â€I’m happy that Stokes is making a contribution to MD. As a former fire chief, I worked with charities through the department, now I can continue this through Stokesâ€. David Mellor, President of Stokes, was ecstatic by his group’s support, stating, â€I think that my grandfather would be proud of our team that continues the good work and social responsibility that the Stokes team has endorsed. As a company that sells to the fire, police and military markets, it’s important to remember that our customers are buying our products to continue important traditions of pride in the squad. Charity is a big part of that tradition. I look forward to telling our customers how we’re making a difference †together. About Stokes International Wm.
