You might have heard the term †Software Development Kit or SDK. You can assume the meaning too from the name. It is a development kit for software. Yes, you are true. But this is little more tricky. The term is used in relation with Smartphone application development. SDK programming or Software Development Kit programming is the tool which allows the programmers to develop applications in a particular platform; e.g. Apple's iOS, Google's Android operating system or BlackBerry OS. We will discuss iPhone SDK in more details here in this article. Programmers use this tool to develop certain applications, like consoles for video games or any other related program. It is quite a sophisticated programming tool which SDK developers should understand thoroughly. It uses codes, and embedded notes and some other utilities which are quite distinct from others. Software Development Kit can normally be downloaded through internet and also used as the marketing tool. Some of the SDKs are free while some others are licensed proprietary SDK and will cost you few bucks if you want to use them. SDK are widely used in game development. Apple's SDK is an uniform tool which can be used in any iOS device. Apple keeps on updating the SDK and the patches are available online. It has given rise to a promising & exciting industry and this is known as the iPhone SDK applications. The first beta iPhone SDK was launched in March 06, 2008. Since then developers are using it and Apple is coming with several upgraded versions periodically. Apple only allows the apps developed with it and promote them through its App Store. There are thousands of SDK applications currently you can find in App Store for different Apple devices. iPhone programmers always try to introduce new innovative apps and they are doing a commendable job. But the SDK is a live tool which is being developed more and more by Apple to help them out. Some of the iPhone SDKs include Cocoa Touch with multi-touch controls; several media such as audio & videos, recording, character animations etc. It also comes with the core services and Mac OS X Kernel. SDK can be freely downloaded but not the applications. Most of the iPhone apps require payment, however free lite versions are also available. Apple allows the iPhone developers in promoting the apps in App Store. Every time Apple launches a new patch for the SDK, definitely it solves some of the existing problems and you can find a new feature added to the old kit.
