Area rugs are universally loved and for good reason too. They express style while also being functional. They are a visual reflection of the owner; they reflect personality and taste. With so many choices of colors, styles and fabric, area rugs are a vital part of home dcor. In a visual society like we live in, these colorful area rugs that are out will draw your attention and make a room either more lively or warm. With an area rug you can show what your preference or even personality is by what you choose. With a more neutral color the rooms can look more organized. If it's a room which is traveled frequently you would want something which is soft on the feet rather than something which is rough to the touch. Adding an area rug to a room will protect the floor underneath to a certain degree in busy rooms. Placing a rug in front of the fireplace would be very romantic when it's lit on a cold winter's night. Noise reduction is another advantage. The hustle and bustle of everyday life can be overwhelming. There is so much noise: radios, televisions, traffic, construction, airplanes, etc. Hardwood floors or other hard surfaces can be another source of noise if not for an area rug to soften the sound. They take in and diminish the noise no matter the location, whether at home or at the office. Rugs can also be helpful in apartments to diminish sounds between levels. Just by adding an area rug you can change the entire look of a room. If you have a large family room but have the children's toys pushed to one side, add two different area rugs in the room. Add a brightly colored children friendly rug in their side and a great styled area rug on the television side to break the room up. If you are someone who is renting a space, many landlords won't let you decorate the walls so why not add an area rug. It doesn't do any damage to the existing addition and can move with you. Make sure before you place an area rug on a hardwood surface or anything which is not carpeted, you add a slip-free padding underneath. This will save you or other from slipping if the rug tends to slide around on the floor where you placed it. If you are placing the rug in an area with furniture, this will also tack it down and will reduce the sliding of the area rug. Adding an area rug into any room which is already decorated will just capture the feel and theme of the room. If you are looking to make over a room but don't have the extra cash think of purchase an area rug. This will make a large difference in the look and style of each room they are placed in. Just remember an area rug is one great element of home dcor which should be added.
