The Best Color Scheme For Your Blog

By: Home |

Much like a web site, there are many details you will want to pay attention to as you create a blog. Everything from the content you produce to the graphics you opt to include can have an impact on your blog. One facet that often gets overlooked that can have just as powerful of an effect is the color scheme you go with.

What you have to understand is that the color scheme will convey the overall feel and mood of the site. Colors have a large impact on how people view what they are looking at and whether or not it is appealing. Because of this, you want to make sure to pick colors that go along with your company's overall goals and ideas.

There are a few things you want to keep in mind when selecting the color scheme. The first thing to keep in mind is to keep it simple. The more eccentric you are with the colors, the more you are going to turn off your visitors. While it is important to grab the attention of the visitors, you want to do so in as professional of a manner as possible.

Try to stick with a few basic colors for the entire site. If you use more than five colors throughout your site, you are going overboard. The more colors you use, the more difficult you are making it on the visitors to read the content and view the graphics.

In addition to sticking with just a few colors, you want these colors to be basic common colors. While you have a wide range of colors to choose from, you want to stay within the web safe palette that is displayed on most computers. This gives you a general idea of what will work best for your site.

The next thing you want to look at for your blogs color scheme is the text. It is absolutely vital the text on your blog stands out and is easy readable. If the color of the text and the background contrast each other, it will look highly unprofessional. Take the time to mix and match to see what you feel works best together.

In addition to the text color, do not be afraid to make key concepts and key words stand out from the rest of the text. You can do this by highlighting specific phrases or bolding words. This makes it much easier on the reader to grasp the key parts of your content.

It can be difficult choosing what colors to use on your blog. Take the time to use trial and error to see what is visually appealing to the eye and makes the content easy to read. Just remember that the blogs color scheme will set the overall tone.
