Most moms secretly long for a designer handbag, but many of them will not spend the extra money when there are so many other things that their family needs. Mother's Day and Christmas are great opportunities for a person to shower his or her mom with the luxuries that she has always desired, but would never buy for herself. Jenny's Chloe Handbag Story Jenny's mom had always wanted a Chloe handbag. She loved to look at the new styles of Chloe handbags that the stars were carrying in the weekly magazines. But as a single mom, there was no way that she could afford to buy one; saving for a Chloe handbag seemed frivolous since there were so many other things that the family needed. So Jenny's mom just satisfied herself with admiring the Chloe handbags from afar. Jenny swore that one day she would buy her mom a Chloe handbag. After all, her mother deserved one after all those years of sacrificing for her family. As soon as Jenny got her first job, she began saving for that Chloe handbag for her mom. From her first day of work until her mom's birthday, Jenny had nine months to save for her surprise gift. A Childhood Inspiration As a child, Jenny heard an inspirational story of a mother who was always setting aside her desires in order to put her family's needs first. As a young woman, she married a good man and hoped that one day he would be able to give her a diamond ring even though they couldn't afford it right away. Her husband loved her so much that he wanted to give her whatever she wanted, but he didn't have the money for diamonds. So he told her that they would save for a diamond little by little. By the time they had saved enough money for her diamond ring, their first child was born and they used the diamond money for much needed baby expenses. The couple then had a second child. Those children had to be put through college and then they had their own weddings to pay for. Needless to say, the diamond fund was used many times for reasons other than the purchase of the woman's diamond ring. Time went on and the husband retired from his job. With his retirement money, he finally purchased his wife the diamond she had always wanted. At that point, her son and daughter-in-law announced that they were expecting their first child. A young couple in love, just as the woman herself had once been, the son and daughter-in-law had not been able to afford a diamond either. The woman, in her usual self-sacrificing style, handed her diamond ring over to her daughter-in-law saying that she was too old to appreciate its beauty. Saving is Hard Jenny could not express how hard it was to save $50 every month for her mom's Chloe handbag. But after almost a year, she had finally saved enough to make her mom's dream come true. Jenny bought the best Chloe handbag she could afford and it was truly beautiful. The look on her mom's face when Jenny gave the Chloe handbag to her was more reward than she could have ever imagined and made each month of setting aside the money well worth the sacrifice.
