The Different Effects And The Different Treatment Processes Associated With Crystal Meth Addiction

By: Berlin Flores Home | Health-and-Fitness

Meth is the acronym for methylamphetamine or methamphetamine. It also goes by the name of crystal meth. Its street names include ice and cristy. Meth is a psychostimulant and a sympathomimetic substance. Several its isomers, such as unmethylated amphetamine, are recommended for the treatment of hyperactivity disorder. Crystal meth, which is an illegal and an addictive substance, has a direct effect on the central nervous system. When administered, crystal meth carries toxic substances to the human body. According to statistical research, crystal meth is very addictive that about 42% of first timers feel the urge to go for a second try while approximately 84% of previous users feel the urge to use it again and again that it develops into an addiction. Several of the first time crystal meth users are oblivious of the detrimental effects the drug has on the human body. They just like taking crystal meth because it makes them "feel terrific."

Crystal meth is included in the D-methamphetamine class accompanied by GIB, sister, ice, and JIB. Here are some facts about D-type methamphetamine:

(1) This type of meths is commonly crystal-like in form and is mostly transparent and sparkly in appearance. They appear to be like sugar crystals.

(2) D-methamphetamine is smoked in single-chambered glass tubes or broken light bulbs.

(3) When the D-type of methamphetamine is warmed using small fires or regular lighters, it is likely to become vapor right after generating a liquid puddle.

(4) This variety of methamphetamine starts to react almost spontaneously, within 3 to 5 seconds, when administered. Within a brief period of time, D-methamphetamines affect the central nervous system. Its effects, which are easily noticed, normally last for around 8 to 24 hours.

There is an additional type of methamphetamine available today and it is called L-type meth. A few examples of this kind of meths are grit, crank, smack, yellow, and speed.

EFFECTS OF METH:

Crystal meth affects the human body both mentally and physically. Here are the several effects of crystal meth:

The Psychological Effects:
(1) The delirious effects of crystal meth are very much akin to that of cocaine.

(2) Crystal meth causes psychological diseases a lot quicker as compared to the other types of substances. The psychological effects of crystal meth go on for about 8 to 24 hours.

(3) Because the effects of the crystal meth last for a longer period of time, first timers are even more prone to use the substance again.

(4) Usually, crystal meth users will probably use the substance more often.

(5) Because crystal meth influences the users to stay up for a long period of time, which is around 8 to 24 hours, the users are expected to go for a long sleep afterwards in order to make up for the time they wasted because of being awake for a long period of time. The amount of time spent by the crystal meth user for resting or sleeping is generally the same as the time he wasted for being wide awake.

(6) Crystal meth dependent people sometimes experience toxic psychosis and chemically-induced schizophrenia.

Physiological Effects:
(1) Crystal meth users often experience a number of physical troubles such as cracked lips, body sores, itching, JIB sores, and skin rashes.

(2) Speed bumps become evident once the toxins penetrate the crystal meth user's body.

(3) Some of the symptoms of crystal meth addiction include mental confusion, incapability to focus on the goals, hyper alertness, muscle spasms and muscle cramps.

(4) The effects of crystal meth are also visible through the crystal meth user's eyes. The crystal meth user's pupils become quite dilated and his eye movement becomes very rapid.

(5) A continuous injection of crystal meth results to lightheadedness, blurred vision, and coordination troubles.

(6) An addiction to crystal meth may also lead to health complications such as liver failure, lung failure, excretory system failure, brain toxicity, and a handful of critical heart disorders such as heart failure and heart attack.

(7) Another possible effect of taking crystal meth, even in trace amounts, is brain cell degeneration.

(8) Aside from the above mentioned physiological effects and potential illnesses, an addiction to crystal meth may also cause the death of the user.

An addiction to crystal meth is totally curable when the correct treatments are exercised. There are some residential and non-residential addiction treatment programs available for crystal meth users who are willing to recover. These treatment programs also involve counseling. The treatment programs involve cleansing the human body while the counseling proper involve convincing the crystal meth user to forget his addiction. It is very necessary for the crystal meth user to receive enough love and encouragement from his relatives, his peers, and the society in order to get better a little sooner.
