Over the years there have been a lot of football players that have inspired, stirred and been an utter pleasure to follow. The chief five that I have selected for contemplation for the best players of all time are as follows:rnrn1. Pele †Many folk will give the number one to Pele, and in my judgement this is a good choice. Born into deprivation and learning to play on the rough streets of his town he trained hard to be the best in the world and his on field performances were far from dreary and uninteresting. At the young age of just 16 he made his debut in the Brazilian league and was then offered a place in the Brazil World Cup side of 1958 where they eventually went on to lift the trophy.rnrn2. Maradona †Who was born in Argentina and became renowned for his spells at Boca and Napoli. He was notrorious for that famous â€Hand of God†goal that knocked out England in the 1986 World Cup Quarter Final.rnrn3. Cruyff †Was arguably of the most gifted players of his era and all time, he was an excellent dribbler of the ball and three time world footballer of the year. If that wasn’t enough he also initiated a method of football called Total Football where players moved around the pitch interchanging their positions on a regular occurrence.rnrn4. Beckenbauer †Had a strategic mind and was renowned for his technique that influenced the game and his teams. It is unusual for a defender to get in the top five but Beckenbauer’s aptitude and intelligence of the game puts him above many in the world. rnrn5. George Best - A great addition to the footballing world and a player that produced, danced and finished to a world class stage. His quick thinking, fast feet and rapid runs could take him past a range of the world’s best defenders and leave them in his wake.
