The History Of Jigsaw Puzzles Part 2

By: Razvan Jr Home | Home-and-Family

In the first part of the article we reviewed the first days of the jigsaw puzzle, back in the 1880s, and their expanding development after the Second World War. With this second part of our article we will continue to go further deep inside the history of the jigsaw puzzle.

In its long history, there have been many famous jigsaw puzzle manufacturers that continued the legend of these products and made them what they are today, a fun and affordable way to relax and have a good time. In the following, we will share a few manufacturers that have their place in the history of these products: Huvanco, Viking, Victory, Waddington, Shaffield, Marlboro, Mayfair, Parker Bros and Par.

In the present, the list of jigsaw puzzle manufacturers is very long and comprehensive, but Stave’s puzzles have been the cornerstone of the domain, resurrecting the items in a period in which they were almost extinct in the mind of the consumer. These wooden puzzles have specially designed photos which are just about perfect for a challenging puzzle. In addition, they can add various tricks of their own, similar with other important wooden jigsaw puzzle manufacturers. Some of today’s highly creative producers are Wrebbit and Falcon’s Wasgij. Besides world-wide known manufacturers of jigsaw puzzles, there were a couple of creative artists like Jane Wooster Scott, Charles Wysocki, Frank Hamilton, Norman Rockwell and Heronim that contributed a lot to this domain.

In the present, the modern jigsaw puzzle is offered in a tremendous number of configurations that appeal various tastes and likes. We now have online puzzles, 3D puzzles, and downloadable puzzles and puzzle mosaics. In addition, there are a bundle of styles, number of pieces and degrees of difficulty configurations available that will suit every taste there is out there.

The biggest puzzle in the world according to an investigation done in 2007 by Educa, has 24,000 pieces, a record that we are eager to find out when and by whom it will be broken. The development of the jigsaw puzzles have evolved in the models for kids as now they come in a wide variety of formats, like animal shaped puzzles or other child-related themes and configurations.

In the end we will share a few reasons why the jigsaw puzzle is so popular today and why it has such a long and rich history behind it:

1.A good way to relax and reduce stress;
2.The challenge that the puzzle himself offers;
3.A great way to pass the time;
4.Guarantees a lot of fun and competition;
5.It will keep your mind and sharp as possible;
6.A great way to spend time with your family and friends;
7.Kids love them;
8.They are very affordable in comparison with today’s entertainment solutions;
9.The satisfaction you get when finishing a jigsaw puzzle is great.
10.One of the best solutions for a hobby available at the moment.

For those of you that want to learn more about the jigsaw puzzle, there are many books out there that can offer you the necessary information. We strongly advise you to read â€The Jigsaw Puzzle †Piecing Together a Historyâ€, written by Anne D Williams, as it will allow you to create a much more complete image about this domain.
