The Importance Of Cpr Training

By: IC Home | Reference-and-Education | Science

With our modern living standards, where obesity and other contributing factors of heart disease are on the increase, it is important for everyone to learn CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). CPR has been around for many years, over the ages it has changed a little, there have been great advancements in the medical and technology fields and more related research has led to new methods, techniques and guides to performing the vital skills of CPR.

One aspect that has been identified has been the need for repetitive training techniques to maintain and upgrade skills, advancement has come with the advent of a cost effective early fibrillation device called the A.E.D (Automatic Electronic Defibrillator).

For the advanced Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors or anyone working with the acute management of heart failure, there have been specialist courses developed such as the ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). These ACLS courses and constant recertification and development of new methods have helped maintain the skills of many individuals. Unfortunately it's never enough, many people who witness a cardiac incident, do nothing and instead stand back either through fear or lack of training or a mixture of the two.

Like any preparatory concept, it is a common belief that "It will never happen to me"; this belief is flawed in that the very nature of an emergency is that it can happen to anybody, at any time and at any place. My suggestion is that there are many first aid companies who offer first aid training; almost all offer a stand alone CPR course. Do yourself a favor and sign up today.

CPR has saved many lives; its success is determined by prompt effective intervention and relay of patient to more advanced facilities or advanced help. Many people are repelled by the idea of helping a victim for various reasons from legal action to the idea of mouth to mouth, there are CPR face shields (also called CPR Masks) and other devices that can help protect both the victim and the rescuer, these barriers protect both parties from direct contact.

In this article we have looked at the concept of CPR and why it is important, whether you are trying to help a family member, a loved one or a total stranger, you will know that the training you received will help you in dealing with this emergency situation. Remember be very prompt get help fast, and act!
