You would be hard-pressed to find a person whose life has not been touched by cancer in Western society today - even in many developing countries it is one of the most common causes of death. Thailand cancer centers researching cancer survivors have found that nutritional support is one of the most potent weapons in our arsenal against cancer. Cancer itself has symptoms that are wide-ranging and diverse, and many that are debilitating and painful. It is the secondary symptoms and the results of treatment that affect a patient's life, and mental state, much more than many primary ones. It has now been found that dietary support is one of the most effective ways to improve immune defenses and manage the effects of both the disease and the radiotherapy or chemotherapy. While a regular cancer checkup is still the most important thing a patient can do to prevent child cancer, heart cancer and breast cancer, it has been found that patients receiving nutrient support maintain their body weight better, are less tired, feel generally better, have a more effective immune system and maintain more muscle tissue and lose less hair than those without. The unfortunate fact is that cancer patients often feel too ill to eat the correct foods in the right proportions that their bodies require. However, Thailand cancer center experts advise caution with regard to supplement mega-dosing. The metabolic balance of the body can be upset by proportions of nutrients that would never be found in nature. These cancer centers in Thailand also note that some supplements may feed the cancer and help it to grow, while others will interfere with required medications. They tell patients that it is never wise to self-medicate, and should always consult nutritionists and cancer specialists before beginning a new nutritional supplement. Cancer treatment centers are now also acknowledging the fact that cancer can be prevented by proper nutrition, and caused by multiple nutritional deficiencies. Sugar, red meat and highly acidic foods are now acknowledged to give cancer the fuel for growth, while supplements like IP6, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and some vitamins and minerals give the immune system the ability to fight cancer cells. Bone cancer treatment centers and breast cancer centers in Thailand tell their patients that vitamin E is essential in the fight against cancer, as it promotes apoptosis - the death of damaged, unneeded or unwanted cells in the body. Other substances which are said by some to have same effect include quercetin, beta glucan, vitamin c complex, niacin, magnesium, curcumin and sulforaphane.
