Through the years, different degrees of length and bagginess have meant different fashion trends, but mens shorts have evolved since they were first introduced as short pants only for male children. During the late 1990s, these mens shorts had a short revival of popularity, especially in the United Kingdom. Mens shorts that were also knee length were Bermuda shorts, which are named so because in Bermuda, they are usually worn as business attire. Cut offs are mens shorts that are made from usually jeans, and are cut just above the knee. Originally these cut offs were popular because they provided a use for jeans with holes in the knees. Usually the gym mens shorts have a cord through the waistband that can be tied in the front. They are used often as mens shorts in gym class, bt are also worn as casual wear as well. Length of the mens shorts varies from just above the knee to just below the knee. There are dozens of different kinds of mens shorts that are comfortable and practical, and it has become common that mens shorts are worn all year long, no matter what the season is.
