Regardless of which side of the Nature versus Nurture argument you believe in when bringing up children, almost every little girl dreams of the Perfect Princess Birthday Party at some point in her childhood. Make this dream a reality by planning the a princess party for her. The princess theme is totally versatile with numerous versions to make it both fun and incredibly memorable. Just remember to get the battery charged on your camera and take lots of pictures ready for her 21st! Decorations are simple to do, basically everything should be pink and sparkly. Streamers and balloons are great for the theme, then confetti followed with plates, cups, and napkins in a style that is appropriate for the party theme. There are numerous games suitable for young girls at this type of princess themed party. The best place to look for inspiration is within her favourite fairy tales and just change traditional games to have a Princess or fairy theme. Instead of pin the tail on the donkey how about an entertaining game of kiss the frog? Instead of running around with a tail to pin in a donkey, get the little princesses to pin a set of lips on to the frog. If the girls are a little older, and you deem it suitable, get them to paint their lips with bright red lipstick and then try to kiss the frog in the lips while blindfolded ! It's a fun variation on a traditional birthday party game. To get the party started, you can have each party princess make her very own tiara to wear for the day's festivities. You can use simple wire, beads, tinsel, feathers and paper. It's a lot of fun, it gets all the little girls together, quietly one hopes, in one spot and concentrating on a specific task. They will also have this great keepsake to bring home with them. You'll want to be sure to get a photo of each princess wearing her tiara as another souvenir. You can also opt to craft a photo frame in the princess theme for each princess to make to hold her tiara photo and take home with her. Items like this are often quite inexpensive and are a lot of fun for the little princesses and their moms to work on together. Food is something to consider carefully. Although it's a party, the food should be 'Princess worthy', i.e. finger food that is low mess and princess approved. Cake and ice cream are almost compulsory but if the party is going to last for any length of time you might want to include sandwiches, fruit and biscuits. If any parents stay to brave the onslaught of pink, remember to feed them as well. A great idea is to theme the food with pink. Use a natural, safe red food dye to create Princess Punch drinks, buy strawberry ice-cream, have red berries in the fruit and pink iced buscuits. To create some quiet time, show a favourite fairy tale movie (such as Disney's Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, or Snow White). In addition, or instead of movies, have someone dress up to tell stories, read fairy tales and wait on the girls. Depending on whether the story teller is a guy or a girl, the fancy dress could be as a prince, knight or king or, alternatively, as a fairy godmother to grant wishes or a queen or serving wench. To end the party, little princess goodie bags round the theme well. A great idea is to create a princess purse filled with pink brushes, lip-gloss, and plastic jewelry. All in all, creating a spectacular princess party for your little princess isn't as difficult as you might think and can be done quite nicely even on a low budget. The important thing is to theme it pink, have plenty of food and plenty of fun activities to keep your little princess and all of her princess friends busy from the beginning to the end.
