By: James Trent Home | Internet-and-Business

Almost everyone wants to have an Internet business, but they don't know how to generate leads. If you have a product or service, and you want to generate leads, you should work to market your business so that people know who you are and what you are offering.

A good way to talk about and share your business is to start a blog. Just about everyone has a blog these days, so you won't want your blog to look like a cookie cutter copy of everyone else's blog. You will need to make your blog interesting enough to catch the eye, and you should engage the reader within the first few lines or you won't get readers. Starting a blog isn't enough; you will need to promote your blog and your business on some popular social networking sites.

Networking sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Ryze.com are very important to the business world on the Net. Among the most popular social networking sites are Twitter and Facebook. Social networking provides a huge platform for advertising your product or service. Savvy business people know how to use the networking sites to their advantage. Make friends with people on Facebook, Twitter and other networking sites although you are not looking for sympathy buyers per se, generally speaking friends tend to buy from other friends before they buy from strangers. Twitter is a huge promoting medium. For many business owners, Twitter is their most effective generator for their businesses. Start tweeting. Just like with Facebook, Twitter is a place to connect with friends and business connections. If you tweet on Twitter regularly, you will update potential clients on what your business has to offer. However, if you want to generate lot's of leads for your business, you need to use Facebook and Twitter as the great tools that they are for promoting your business.

Next, start following people in your vicinity, and then search for the business you are interested in. Find people who are interested in you business and start tweeting with them. However, if you have a product that is easily shipped through the mail you can look for people sharing the same interests as you without worrying about where they live.

It is really good to use networking sites where you are already known by lot's of people. Therefore, if you are already a social tweeter, start tweeting about your business. Talk with your followers, and talk with the people you follow. There is no point following if you aren't talking to each other. The social networking sites will work for you if you stick with strategies that work. It's important to be proactive about leaving information on Twitter, Facebook and other networking sites, but it is equally important not to push too hard as well.
