The Sony Ericsson Yari offers a great deal to the mobile phone user. The phone itself is stylish and its exterior belies the useful nature of the variety of functionality enclosed within. It is a phone for the modern day individual with features such as YouTube applications and shake control, the handset offers the consumer exactly what they are looking for in a mobile phone. The phones display screen is 2.4 inches in size and displays 256,000 colours at a pixel size of 240 x 320. One of its main features is the accelerometer sensor which ensures that images are displayed in their correct aspect for optimum viewing. The speakerphone offers the ability to talk on the phone with hands free operation. The phone comes with a 5.0 mega pixel camera which operates at a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The additional elements of auto focus, face detection, image stabilisation and geo tagging are all useful elements which enhance the users ability to take photos and reference them. The inclusion of an LED flash provides illumination. The alternative of video recording and playback is available on this phone which is at QVGA quality and 30 frames per second. The popular feature of video calls is available by virtue of the secondary camera provided. GPS with A-GPS support ensures the user doesn't get lost, by offering satellite navigation. The inclusion of an MP3 / MP4 player is one of the key benefits of the phone when taking into account additional tools such as TrackID, shake control and SenseMe are included. The stereo FM radio provides the means to access local and national radio stations, whilst the organiser and a voice memo recorder, offer the option to manually input or record notes. The Sony Ericsson Yari is a relatively small unit which measures 100 mm x 48 mm wide and is 15 mm thick. It weighs in at 115 grams, which is surprising considering the compact size of the unit. It offers value for money in many ways and is geared towards the modern day market by including applications which are web based.
