The Technological Leaps Of The Video Gaming Console In The Last One Decade

By: Smarthouse Home | Shopping-and-Products | Product-Reviews

There is a big market for the video game consoles worldwide. The word â€video game console’ is used to distinguish it from other games which can be played on your personal computer and the â€arcade machines’ which are bought for business purposes by people or organizations who make others play on them and charge them for the same. In reality, the video gaming consoles are nothing but modified computer systems which produce a video display signal. This signal is used with a display device like the TV or the monitor of the personal computer to display a video game. Some of the major players in this product category are: Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and a few other consumer electronic giants.

The development of the gaming consoles is documented as a generation-wise evolution of the technology with added features. Among the famous gaming consoles are the Nintendo Wii, Sony’s PS 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox. Nintendo Wii is a seventh generation console, the most advanced of all, which does not require an internal hard drive. It makes use of the flash memory and there is a provision for attaching the removable storage device. The remote of this device resembles that of a TV.

The playstation 3 gaming console from the Sony stable was the first in the series to actually make use of the HDMI output out of the box. These do feature the hard drives and allows for the playing of blu-ray movies out of the box. The PS 3 is also a seventh generation console and can connect up to 7 devices using the blue tooth technology.

Yet another seventh generation gaming console is the Xbox 360 of Microsoft. This product It is also capable of giving HDMI output. This product was unique and distinctive since it could be operated from the internet.

Most of the seventh generation gaming products can be downloaded and played online. The earlier versions came in the form of magnetic media, cards and cartridges. The current ones mostly come in the form of optical media or can be played online. The development of blue lasers optical storage technology has enabled the increase in the storage capacity of the DVDs. The blu-ray disk players are named after this blue laser which has lesser wavelength than the usual red laser. These are a technological improvement over the DVDs and are used to store the high definition output and PS 3 video games.

The advancement in technology has also permitted the manufacture of the portable gaming consoles. These are different from the video gaming consoles mainly in the fact that the screen, controls and speakers are the part of the one whole. Further, these handheld gaming devices are lightweight, facilitating easier handling and carriage.

The manufacturers of the gaming accessories have not been left far behind either. They have kept pace with the latest developments. Quick to judge the accessory needs of the new products, the suitable accessories come in the market well in time. These accessories are meant to ease the operation and handling of he consoles.
