The United States constitution is the longest serving constitution in the world. However given a chance there are many area I would amend in the entire constitution. As it is clearly known, every generation is different from the other and thus a need for a change in the way we govern our self as generation changes. This is because human beings are social being that acquires new characteristics every day. First, the constitution does not fully allow democracy without which we will never make much progress. Many people may term the country as being a democratic country but this is not so. People are discriminated by the systems that exist in regards to their nationality, financial status and their social class. Those in power are engaged in corruption which is a blow to our country’s economy. Just a few people are involved in decision making. These are regarded as the controllers of the country’s progress. There is too much power given to the president. He is the one who first decides on what is to be done before others can be engaged. This is a great risk incase of having a president who is only interested in his or her own personal gains. The president may corrupt the economy if he is influential and corrupt. Given a chance, I would change the power structure to enable others to intervene in such a case. There are also very important decisions that should be made by the society as they the main stakeholders. However, they do not get enough chance to be part of the major decisions which are made by few people who do not fully understand the needs and wants of the local people especially at the grass root level, hence I advocate for a down top decision and policy formulation. There are many problems facing the country today. The two problems that I think are major are the deteriorating economy and the ever increasing population. The government has had a problem in prioritization of matters. Most people are unemployed and thus the number of people living below poverty line is increasing day by day. People from other countries can easily come to the country using illegal means and operate under cover. Due to this, the government is losing a huge amount of money as these people are not taxed. To solve this, the government should improve on its system in the detection of fraud cases. Many companies are also leaving US to put their companies in other foreign countries where cheap labor is available, for example most United \States of America’s companies have invested heavily in China, the far east and Africa because of cheap labor and ready market hence leaving the United States population to be jobless since the labor charges in the us are very high.
