There are 7 days a year that i totally love. Those are the 7 home games which Penn State plays football in State College, Pennsylvania. I have already been going to these types of games since I was in college, and its just been a routine for me and my loved ones for several years. We do not miss a game if at all possible. Seeing a game in Happy Valley is actually special. The atmosphere is as fine as it gets in college football. State College, Pa is right in the center of the state of Pennsylvania, and because you descend into town, this feels like everybody in the state is arriving there with you. You certainly believe way when you arrive in the car parking lots and see the RVs and tailgaters as far as the eye is able to see. My routine commences early in the morning as I get myself and my loved ones outfitted in Penn State apparel. For me, I never attend PSU football games without put on my good fortune Penn State jersey. Since I like to sit within or close to the student area, and they have the tradition of wearing white for the Penn State â€White Out†effect, I have a white Penn State football jersey. My wife has a Penn State ladies jersey and my kids have Penn State youth jerseys. However the gear does not stop with jerseys, because there is plenty more. If it is chilly, we might layer up with a Penn State sweatshirt as well. A fleece one is perfect in the event that it is a cold late in the season game. White, blue, or grey Penn State sweatshirts tend to be fine too, I've got all of them in my wardrobe. My loved ones and I also have PSU caps, t-shirts, and jackets, so what ever Penn State equipment is needed for that day’s condition, we have. Next, we stock up the vehicle with tailgating equipment. The most important items are the basic: chairs, grill, coolers, meals, and drinks. I have a Penn State Chair that I’ve had forever that i bring to every game, and I use it extensive before and after games. We have about a 2 hr drive to State College, so we usually leave about 6-7 hours before kick-off. We’ve had exactly the same car parking place in State College for several years, and it’s where all of us tailgate with our fellow Penn State fans. All of us like to get there early to set up the barbeque grill, tables, chairs, and a few games (we love to play corn hole). Luckily, we now have other tailgaters having a portable satellite television dish and Televisions so that we can view all the morning college football games (especially Big 10 games) while preparing for the large game. The most important part of tailgating is actually mingling with close friends, however food preparation and consumption is important as well. All of us turn up the grill early and keep it going all day. Usually multiple kinds of meat get tossed on, personally I love any kind of red meat to go with my personal adult drink during tailgating. Don’t forget to have plenty of ice and mixers. Tailgating is actually fun, but I always remind everyone that the main reason we are there is for the game. I like to be in Beaver Stadium 20 minutes prior to kick-off. This enables me personally to soak in all the pre-game festivities, like the teams running out on the field, Joe Paterno’s entrance, and the incredible sound of 100,000 fans screaming â€Let’s Goâ€.Penn Stateâ€. These are my personal favorite 7 days of the year.
