Theming A Nursery With Adorable Baby Nursery Accessories

By: Aaron Jackson Home | Home-and-Family

Decorating a nursery and choosing the perfect Baby Nursery Accessories is probably the funniest part of preparing for the arrival of a baby. These tips will help new parents find the perfect accessories to make the baby's nursery a fun and relaxing place to be.

Choose a Theme
The first step is to select a theme for the nursery. This can be a character, animal, pattern, or simply a combination of colors. There are many great gender neutral themes for parents that do not know the sex of their babies. Those who know the gender will probably want to select a theme fit for their little prince or princess.

Select Wall Colors
After selecting a theme, it is time to find wall colors that complement and enhance this idea. The nursery should be a calm and relaxing place, so light and pastel colors are a very popular choice. Another current trend is selecting a dark, warm neutral such as chocolate brown or navy blue. Avoid bright colors as they can be loud and too bold for the serene feeling a nursery should produce. Another highly popular way to tie in the theme would be to add a decorative border around the ceiling. Chair railing can be added to divide a wall in half. This provides the option for another modern look of applying wallpaper to half of the wall and painting the other half.

Selecting Accessories
Now that the theme is chosen and walls are painted, it's time to locate Baby Nursery Accessories that fit the theme. This is probably going to be the hardest part of the process and may require shopping around several stores to find the perfect pieces. Find lamps, toys, and books that match the theme to display. Choose furniture that compliments the tone of the nursery. For example, white furniture or light wood tones would look better in a beach themed nursery than a cherry wood, which would look lovely in green and pink or blue nursery. Every nursery needs a crib, changing table, dresser, and rocker. Find other functional baby nursery accessories such as a diaper bin and toy storage to keep your nursery functional and clean.

What's in a Name?
The perfect nursery accessory to add the final personalized touch is displaying your baby's name on the wall above their bed. Big wooden letters can be painted to add that perfect final touch.
