There Are Such Things As Fast Healthy Recipes!

If you lead a really busy life and it is difficult to find the time to cook healthy meals from scratch, do not despair because you are not alone and because there is a huge demand for fast healthy recipes, you will be able to find hundreds of these in recipe books and online. It can be extremely tempting to buy in ready meals or takeaway food when you get in late from work and you want to eat straight away or when you’ve had a hectic day and you need to feed the children as well as yourself but a bit of pre-planning can mean that you don’t have to give in to this temptation.

Put your health first by planning your menu for the week before you do your weekly shopping, this way you will be less likely to impulse buy and end up with a lot of food, none of which goes together to make healthy and nutritious meals. When you’re writing your shopping list, think about the staple ingredients you’ll need to create many of the fast healthy recipes on offer, ingredients such as chicken pieces, salmon fillets, lightly dusted fish fillets for the freezer, onions, peppers, fresh vegetables, potatoes and brown rice and pasta. With a combination of these things you will always be able to create quick and delicious meals from scratch even if you’re short on time and if possible, you could try and make up batches of your favourite recipes in advance and freeze them, ready to put straight in the oven when you walk through the door.

Try marinating chicken breasts or thighs or fish fillets in a simple mixture of lemon, garlic and thyme or lime, chilli and olive oil and leaving in the fridge for up to 48 hours, this way you can take what you need out of the fridge and griddle it for a few minutes on either side before serving with a side salad, roasted vegetable couscous or brown rice or pasta. You can also make batches of pasta sauce and freeze these, simply taking out of the freezer and placing straight into the microwave or into a pan placed over a low heat when you need them. Fresh pasta can be frozen and takes around five minutes to cook straight from the freezer so you can enjoy simple fast healthy recipes every night of the week if you plan ahead.

If you want to push the boat out but you don’t want to undo all the hard work of healthy eating, why not treat yourself to some fruity cocktails; there are plenty of quick sangria recipes online which, while alcoholic and so not strictly healthy, do include fresh orange juice and fresh fruit.
