Three Foreseeable Tech Trends For Business In The Year 2011

By: John Mark Home | Internet-and-Business | Internet-Marketing

Technology has crossed new dimensions as the time has gone by. We are seeing innovative products being launched on a daily basis. But technology as a stand-alone cannot create wealth on its own. Companies use these technologies to create innovative products which lead to profit. Hence, it is very important to look at the technological advancement from business point of view. This is the beginning of a new year and lot of speculations about future trends is made at this point of time. As human beings, we are always inquisitive to know about the future and tend to speculate about it. In this article, we have predicted tech trends which are going to be prevalent in businesses in the coming future.

Omnipresence of private and public clouds: Cloud computing phenomenon has taken the IT industry with a storm. In the past year, we have seen the emergence of private clouds which resulted in highly receptive response from the organizations. In the coming years, we will see uncluttered use of cloud computing technology which will result in high adaptability of business processes to the cloud. Organizations will migrate to a hybrid model of private and public clouds. Organizations which do not have investments in legacy systems like ERP will be able to adapt to cloud computing quite easily. As more and more organizations start using clouds, the restrictions that currently prevent users to effectively utilize the cloud computing services will be relaxed. This will result in:

â€Reduced costs
â€Increased efficiency of the resources available
â€Relaxed entry barriers
â€Reduced security concerns

Social networking liberalization: Social networking has become an inevitable part of organizations. Sites like: Facebook, Twitter, and Digg provide an opportunity to organizations to promote themselves in a better way. Right now, the onus is on personal communication but in future, cyber environment will be the trend. Enterprise social networking will be more than usual social networking. There will be different platforms for members which will address their needs through different communities. They are:

â€Communities that are part of the organizations (employees)
â€Communities that are directly influenced by the organizations but are not part of it (shareholders)
â€Communities tenuously interested in the organizations

The interactions that take place on social networking sites at present are not managed properly. In addition to this, the information shared through these sites cannot be reused which is a major limitation of social networking sites. Enterprise social networking will curb this limitation and will facilitate spontaneous communication which will be regulated and can be reused whenever necessary.

Evolving role of Customers: We have all heard the phrase, â€Customer is the King of the market.†But in the software development field, customers are considered to be an active participant in the development process of the product. With the evolution of Web 2.0, people are increasingly participating in social networking activities. Many organizations have increased their PR activities on social networking sites to promote their brand and increase their visibility. The interactions with the customers are reviewed thoroughly and then products are designed as per their specifications. In future, we will see decentralized technology in the hands of customers. What this means is that customers will have the control of information and they will be able to use it either ways. Hence, there will be no privacy for organizations and the control will be in the hands of the customers. With the help of information, the customers will be producers in some cases and promote the source of their information in either ways.
