Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- the Steelers is a professional football team which has had a great deal of accomplishments, the team is currently part of the AFC North division in the NFL however, throughout its history the Pittsburgh Steelers have been part of different divisions of the AFC. This team can consider one of the oldest and without a doubt one of the most famous football teams in the NFL, it was founded back in 1933 when I started out playing for the Eastern division and in 1944 they switched to the Western division. From 1950 to 1952 they played for the American conference, from 1953 all the way to 1969 they were part of the Eastern conference. For a period of about 30 years (1970 -- 2001) they were part of the AFC Central division but it wasn't until recently (2002 until today) when they started playing under the AFC North division. Championships and Important Moments: This is one of the few football teams which has a lot of significant accomplishments and by that we mean Super Bowl championships. The Pittsburgh Steelers have literally stolen a Super Bowl championship five times, the first time they were crowned champions was in 1974 when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings by a margin of 16 to 6 at the Tulane Stadium, the next year the team made it once again to the Super Bowl but this time they went up against the Dallas Cowboys but this game wasn't as easy as the previous one against the Vikings, in the end they were able to prevail by a score of 21 to 17. Their third Super Bowl participation was in 1978 when the wind up against Dallas which was coming back for revenge a post once again to the tough roaster that the Steelers are brought to the game, their fourth championship was in 1979 when they were able to overcome the LA Rams 31 to 19 and last but not least they were able to conquer the 2005 championship against Seattle by a margin of 21 to 10. The Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he is looking forward to the end of the off-season because they're finally going to get some time to relax before the training camp which starts during the last week of July. One of the key advantages for this team is to have a very knowledgeable coach who is praised by the players and who is said to let his actions speak louder than his words. Fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers are definitely going to be delighted by the performance of the team which is going to face very tough opponents during the 2008 season which is why their tickets are expected to sell very quickly.
