Time Management Tips - Making Good Use Of Online Calendars

By: Gen Wright Home | Self-Improvement

To improve the quality of your life, it all comes down to time management. How so? You see, everything you do in your life, be it work, career or family, has something to do your time management skills. Having time management skills means you should know what matters most, and go do it. The problem is, we usually don't notice how we make use of our time. So all that time has gone by, and at the end of the day, we realized that most of it is wasted. The solution is simple. All we need is a time management tool to help us manage our time better.

Before the age of the Internet, you may have to pay money for calendar software. But that is a thing of the past now. You can freely download the latest calendars on the Internet, and use it in whatever way you wish. Don't underestimate this powerful time management tool. Here are some tips on how you can use your brand new calendar.

Tip 1: Update your calendar on a daily basis.

Use your calendar as a tracking device. Whatever you have planned for the day, put it in your calendar. Better still, print out the calendar and fill it in on paper. That way, you are clear about what you are going to do for the day. If there are changes, simply update the calendar.

You don't have to make changes to your work life or family life immediately. For starters, it is good enough for you to notice where all that time has gone. If there are to be changes, be sure to manage them properly. Don't change everything at one go. Change one or two things at a time. For example, if you realize that you have been spending way too much time in the office, you may wish to cut back on your working hours during Friday nights and weekends to spend more time with your family.

Tip 2: Break up your time into smaller slots.

Often, you find that you have lots of time in between appointments. Try to locate where all the time pockets are. If you can locate just 15 minutes of free time each day, that is close to a couple of hours more in a week. You would never have made good use of that time if not for your time management calendar.

Tip 3: Set your priorities straight.

Always think about what matters to you most in your life. You have to be doing what matters most. Otherwise, it's just time down the drain, and you may feel regretful about having wasted all that time. Make sure you manifest that as you fill in your calendar. If something is not important to you, you can always leave it for later. That is how you can prioritize your life and keep things organized. In the long run, you will be leading a much happier life. All thanks to the free calendar that you've downloaded from the Internet.
