Tips For Reducing Stress

By: AlnwickKajetan Home | Health-and-Fitness

One of my cardiac rehab clients once told me, "Overcoming stress feels like being on a treadmill to oblivion." The truth of the matter is that there are a lot of tips for reducing stress that are innately a part of the bigger picture with stress management. On the healing journey of each person, there is a starting point that is right for them.

Did you know that some statistics claim that one-third of doctor visits are for problems relating to stress, depression, or sleep issues! This is true for adults and children alike. We have become a prescription society! Did you know that we spend $80 billion dollars a year on stress and depression medications, sleep aids, energy drinks, and other stimulants?

Getting enough sleep - sleeping is when your body repairs the damages from the stresses it incurs throughout the day. For most people 8 hours of continuous sleep per day is the optimum. To get a good sleep you should avoid drinking coffee or eating sweet stuff close to bedtime. You should instead do some relaxing activities like reading something light or listening to soothing music.

Laughter- Laughter is another great way to reduce stress in your life. Most people are too uneasy and take things to seriously that they forget how to laugh and have fun in life. Go into a dvd store and rent a nice comedy every week and learn to laugh when you are feeling stressed. Get a good joke book to read as well. It is said that 1 minute of laughter is equal to 15 minutes of workout so learn to laugh.

Another good tip to reduce stress through proper time management is learning to delegate your works. There are times when you feel that you have too many things to do but have so little time. When this happens, make a list of the things that you can delegate to family members or co-workers. Learning how to delegate can help avoid stress from building up.

The lead researcher, Marie-Anne Milesi of Seppic points out, "Several studies have shown that there is a link between psychological stress and intracellular oxidative stress. We wanted to test whether augmenting the body's ability to deal with oxidative species might help a person's ability to resist burnout."

If you see the advertisement about making a few thousand dollars a week, do you believe it? If you say no, why not? Persons like Warren Buffet, Donald Trump, and other billionaires are making more than that. The moment you say no, you are mentally limiting yourself to poverty.

Moreover, listen to the music can also be a good way for reducing stress. Since not all office allows playing or listening to the music loudly, you can use headphones so that you will not disturb your partners while working. Choose your favorite songs for the play list so you will be more enjoyable to do it.

Another great technique for reducing stress is through proper time management. Let's face it, most people spend most of their day spinning their wheels as they move from one project or task to another, making them incapable of focusing on what they are doing. However, with a time management system in place, your day can be mapped out in the morning so that you are able to complete tasks one at a time.

Knowing what causes you stress and taking the appropriate steps will ensure that stress is managed and reduced to an acceptable level. When you take action to reduce stress you will be doing your body and mind as well as your life a huge favor.
