Tips On Surviving Breast Pain

Breast pain is medically known as mastalgia, mastodynia and also mammalgia. It is the general terms used and means discomfort, tenderness and pain in one or both breasts.

Breast pain is definitely a sign of some problem, and usually comes with the fear of having breast cancer. Experience has taught us that breast pain is rarely a sign of breast cancer, but signals a hormonal fluctuation in a woman’s life.

Breast pain can also have a variety of causes, and it’s best to always seek medical attention.

Breast pain is a very common symptom during the years of menopausal transition. This is caused by fluctuating levels of female hormones, both estrogen and progesterone. Breast pain are usually seen in perimenopausal women, but may also manifest during the postmenopausal stage.

This can be experienced by as many as 70% of all women during some time in their lives. Ten percent of these women can have severe breast pain which can have a negative impact on their daily lives.

The symptoms of breast pain vary greatly depending on the severity, type of breast pain and differ from person to person. Symptoms may include tenderness, dullness, swelling, soreness, burning, tightness or aching. These symptoms can affect either breasts or even just one breast at a time and can either be consistent or intermittent.

TREATMENT OF BREAST PAIN
It is always advisable to treat breast pain with the least invasive method requiring the least risk. There are three ways to treat breast pain: lifestyle changes, alternative medicine and drugs or surgery.

LIFESTYLE CHANGES
Lifestyle changes might often be effective at curbing breast pain, yet that alone do not address the hormonal imbalance. These changes usually do not cost anything and are virtually risk free, but do require a great deal of perseverance and self-discipline.

There are two ways to reduce breast pain with lifestyle changes, the first being to make dietary changes to live a healthy lifestyle and the other being helpful ways to naturally reduce breast pain.

Diet changes to reduce breast pain
The following dietary changes will assist to reduce breast pain:

Lifestyle changes to reduce breast pain
The following lifestyle changes will help a sufferer to reduce breast pain:
â€Use ice packs if severe pain
â€A supportive bra should be worn during exercise and while sleeping
â€Wear a comfortable bra
â€Exercise some relaxation techniques
â€Exercise daily to keep fit

The lifestyle changes are the least invasive method carrying the least risk to reduce breast pain. There are virtually no side effects when curing breast pain the natural way.

Lifestyle changes are not always successful, and alternative yet safe methods has to be used in conjunction with the lifestyle changes.

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE
Besides lifestyle changes are alternative medicine the least risky, yet a very effective way to treat breast pain.
