Car engine is the heart of a car that plays a vital role in overall functioning of the car. Therefore, it is very important to take good care of the engine.

There are many factors that contribute to fault engine. Some of the factors include overheating, corrosion, and improper use of the engine. Generally the most important and key factor that causes engine breakdown is lack of engine care and maintenance.

Here are top 10 car engine maintenance tips that may help you keep your car engine in good condition:

1.The most essential part of the car engine is the engine oil that needs to be replaced periodically to keep the engine running. Also Check the level of oil in the oil tank and if it is not filled to the marked level, top it with clean fuel as recommended by the manufacturer.

2.Try to avoid engine overheating because that is one of the major culprit of faulty engine.

3.Inspect the condition of spark plugs and plug wires. If there are any cracks on them they may cause a spark while the engine is running.

4.Check whether the hoses are working properly. Inspect them for softness and chafed areas which can indicate interior impairment of the engine.

5.Most of the new car models use a serpentine-belt system which works in support with the spring-load tensioner. If in case the belt in broken, it would cause a severe damage to the engine as it would disable all the accessories in the car. So, if you find even a small cut or crack in the belt, replace that immediately.

6.Check the air filters for dirt and debris. Any kind of deposits on the filter would directly hamper the functioning of the car engine. So, if possible remove the debris or else replace the air filter.

7.The efficiency of the car battery also plays an integral role in the functioning of the car engine. So, check the condition of the battery well, top the battery fluid to the mark, and also check for cracks in the battery case. If you find any kind of fault in the battery or the battery casing, replace the required component with immediate effect.

8.Inspect the condition of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve that helps reduce the temperature of the cylinder. One key symptom of the faulty valve is the engine pinging and can be checked using an external vacuum pump.

9.Check the level and condition of all car fluids including the brake fluid, engine fluid,engine coolant, power steering fluid, and transmission fluid.

10.Check for any kind of noise or vibration from the car engine. If you hear strange noises and if you feel the vibration while the engine is running, get your car checked at an authorized service station.
