Top 5 Content Management Job Trends

By: Robin Owens-Wright Home | Self-Improvement | Anger-Management

There seems to be several areas that are stimulating the trends for the content management field in new media.

1. Social Networking Popularity - There are so many areas that can be tapped with the wide spread usage of social networking sites and applications. It is all about user generated content and the management of that data to allow users to get something out belonging to one these networks. The goal here is going to be how to best manage the data to offer something different to the users. How are these networks really going to best shape the users experience by the content delivery? Who and when will certain levels of access be granted? What will need to be greatly considered is the integrity of the data.
2. The Paperless Push - This is a biggie because companies and individuals are trying their best to go paperless SOOOO in an effort to implement this movement, content management is key. The more you can access on the computer, save/store, reuse and share, the less need to print off. Content management professionals will need to design systems and applications that will make this process very easy for the users.
3. Using Mashups - This is huge and somewhat ties in with the paper push. Check out Google Maps which combines mapping software in with other applications. For example, you can see Google Maps with real estate applications so you get a service that alleviates you from going to different sites to get the same information. It is put together for the ease of use for the viewer. Content management will be a key area here to create new uses for existing data to fit the scope of the typical user.
4. Crossover of Several Data Management Functions - Content management, document management, email and records management are all converging. Learning how to take this technology and put it to the best use for a company will be key especially on the enterprise level.
5. Identity Management - With all of this access comes a price. In certain cases, especially in corporate environments, there is the need to monitor and manage even the identity data. Who will get access when and why and keeping tabs on these security efforts. With identity theft to corporate confidentiality this will be a big areas especially as competition between similar organizations and sites grow in number.
