1. Low call rates on your mobile or landline phone calls. This may sound simple, but the advertising of the BIG Telco’s has you looking at all their â€free’ inclusions while they make sure they charge you BIG FEES and CALL RATES. 2. Beware of the 30 second increment. That’s right most mobile plans and most landline calls to mobiles or national numbers are charged in 30 second increments by the major Telco’s, why? Because they have fooled you into thinking that it is ok for you to pay for something you don’t get. Don’t let them fool you anymore. Only pay for what you use, make sure you ask for 1 second billing. At OHMI our plans are all billed in 1 second increments except for the mobile cap plans. For more detail on 1 â€v- 30 second billing increments read our article in our Understand Your Phone Bill newsletter series. 3. Flagfalls. These are another cost that is continually going up. Did you know that some Telco’s are now charging as much as 43 cents just to connect your call? Select a plan with a low Flagfall and watch your call costs drop. OHMI’s Super Low Mobile Plan has a Flagfall of just 5c per call. 4. Long Distance calls can be costly. The average Long Distance call is less than 2 minutes. Many Service Providers entice you with Call Caps for 1 or more hours but charge a much higher initial per minute rate meaning most calls cost you more. Only go for an attractive capped plan if you make lots of long calls. Otherwise paying low rates and only paying for the time you use will normally work out cheaper. 5. International calls. The larger Telco’s can really charge you for making international calls. This has lead to the influx of the international calling card. Yet there have been many complaints on the unexplained fees and charges associated with using these calls, and if you are in a larger business it is a cumbersome system for getting your staff to dial the numbers. At OHMI we can make it easier for you. If you make lots of international calls, simply let us know where and we will endeavour to give you a greater discount on your call charges. Don’t forget to sign up for the OHMI Understanding Your Phone Bill newsletter series to have a greater understanding of how you can ensure you get the right plan for you and reduce your phone costs.
