Topsider Homes, which specializes in shipping prefabricated, custom-designed homes to various destinations across the world, is in essence a great revolution, real global revolution. Based in Clemmons, North Carolina, US, the beginnings of Topsider Homes itself has to be seen as sort of a revolution. It was more than four decades ago, in 1968, that the first spark of the revolution happened, when the company set up a prefab house in an old warehouse and built on a mountainside near Boone, North Carolina. That was a time when people had to go for expensive, yet unsightly foundations while building homes on severely sloping terrains. The company gave them a real good alternative, setting up the house on the sloppy terrain with its ingenious post and beam pedestal design, thus cutting out on cost and making it firm and strong too. The revolution then spread across slowly, with the company supplying some of the very first prefabricated "kit" homes sold in America. Though early era Topsider Homes looked "woodsy†compared to those of today and had rough textured wood interior surfaces throughout, they proved to be a pleasant departure from the existing construction traditions and ways. The company grew and in the 1970s moved from Boone to new manufacturing facilities in Yadkinville, North Carolina. Then on, the focus was mainly on resort development projects at such places as Walt Disney World, Pinehurst Country Club, Hilton Head Island and many other well-known resort locations worldwide. This continues well into the 1980s too. In the 1990s, with new technologies like CADD coming up, things took a leap for the company. The focus shifted to individual home buyers and one-of-a-kind custom designed structures, built with the company's unique and proprietary post and beam and panelized component building system. The company shifted to its new campus-style facility in suburban Clemmons, North Carolina, near Winston-Salem. Now, in the 21st century, Topsider Homes continues to uphold the tradition it had set and ships all across the world the best kinds of prefabricated homes, thus culminating into being a real global revolution in the prefab homes industry.
