Although they are one of the items that are traditionally associated with nuptial preparations, wedding invitations can be wasteful. This is according to bride-to-be Carrie Denny, who noted in a Philadelphia Magazine blog that such objects often end up being cast aside or thrown away. One alternative to this is to use email wedding invitations, which are convenient, cheap and do not create any waste that is harmful to the environment. Indeed, as concerns over global warming and the overfilling of landfill sites continue to mount, the demand for email wedding invitations may rise further. Commenting on the problems associated with sending wedding invitations through the mail, Ms Denny stated: "I can't justify spending so much money on paper that, likely, only Anthony and I and our immediate families will save past April 9th 2011. "If any of our guests are like us, the invitations and accompanying directions will be stashed under the car seat or in the side panel of the door until they find it months later during a car cleanout." She went on to suggest that now she can theoretically assign a price to the pieces of paper, she cannot help but envisage clumps of money hidden away in cars. Ms Denny added that it seems as though there should be a solution that involves creating something simple and elegant without "breaking the bank". Of course, selecting what type of wedding invitation to send out is only one piece of the puzzle. Couples also have to choose the design of the offerings and, more controversially, decide who to send them too. Such issues can be the cause of much discussion in the lead up to a wedding. As long as the bride and groom-to-be approach the subject in a pragmatic and reasonable fashion, they should be able to avoid too many arguments.
