Training In Wind Energy

Training in Wind Energy

Energy is on everyone’s mind these days with heating fuel, electricity and gasoline climbing while our income seems to stay dormant or even decreasing. Although wind power has always been a known source of energy, serious research on this alternative method for fuel was not taken seriously until recently. According to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), wind power is the fastest growing energy source in the world, soaring at an estimated rate of 30% each year. WindTraining is now becoming a vocation of choice with programs and courses becoming more available.

What is there to learn about wind? Plenty. The study of global wind patterns can be an entire course of study and is a critical stage of wind training. Wind speeds and the type of atmospheric circulation measurer how much power will be generated at different locations around the world. For instance, Afghanistan doesn’t have the same type of climate and air pressure as Alaska so the wind factors would be entirely different. Another segment in WindTraining.net wind training is the area of wind assessment and its different levels. How to consult a wind map, obtaining measured data or taking your own measurements are all skilled positions within this industry.

Engineering and surveying degrees are invaluable in the wind energy trade. The design and specifications of the equipment are important to a well functioning wind turbine as well as having professional surveyors determine unit placement. And because many times energy is stored or sold back to utility companies, knowledge of electricity, both mechanical and technical, is another skill that is in great demand. Remember, less than 1% of the world is now operational through the power of wind but in less than ten years, this amount could grow to over 20%. Wind power is clean, cheap and socially acceptable.

Searching for wind training is still fairly young but there are excellent courses out there is you are looking at wind energy as a career. Begin with state and municipal agencies in your area and expand to national environmental organizations to see that your options are in energy educational programs. Many agencies are now offering scholarships in an attempt to attract students into the wind and solar energy sector. Energy service providers and manufacturers may also have their own courses set up for existing and new employees that pay as you learn, a type of internship, if you will.

There are also jobs for those who do not possess degrees or certifications such as manufacturing and clerical but why not take advantage of a long-term opportunity and begin a new career, helping the planet at the same time. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and visit organizations of the wind-training sector. We are all learning and the industry will welcome you and anyone who has the same interest in energy and a desire to create a brighter, more fuel efficient future.
