Treadmill Information And Statistics

By: Steve Garrett Home | Health-and-Fitness | Exercise

If you are thinking about buying a new or used treadmill for sale online or from your local sports store, you will join thousands of other treadmill owners. However, depending on the type of treadmill you get, you may be up for a substantial investment. Therefore it is important that you research the types of treadmills available and get one that matches your needs. I will consider a few interesting treadmill statistics that may help convince you that you are making the right decision.

Treadmills are one of the best pieces of exercise equipment if you are considering starting an exercise program in your home. A study conducted in the United States by a National Health and Fitness research group found that around 2 out of 3 people that purchased a treadmill managed to lose approximately 7% of their body weight over the first year. The sample size and the background of the group tested was not specified, but this is a significant statistic supporting the positive impact that owning a treadmill can have on your weight loss. It has also been established that incorporating a regular exercise pattern in your lifestyle is the best way to keep off weight for the long term, so this is a great way to start a weight loss program, and based on these statistics, a high percentage will maintain that weight loss after one year, providing a solid base to continue a weight loss program.

Another interesting statistic relating to treadmill use was that over half of those purchasing a treadmill still used it at least 3 times a week after 3 years. This is more than for other popular types of indoor exercise equipment such as exercise bikes, elliptical trainers and rowers. It may be that treadmills are easy to use and you can more easily incorporate its use into your lifestyle.

The final statistic relating to treadmills that I have will surely inspire you. Of those people who use a treadmill 3 or more times a week, 9 out of 10 feel more energized than if they had not worked out on a treadmill. That is a telling statistic, an in itself is a great reason to own and exercise on a treadmill

Many exercise weight loss programs say that the best way to start a weight loss program is to start walking. This will strengthen your cardiovascular system without placing undue stress on it, as well as strengthen muscles, tendons and joints. Owning a treadmill will enable you to start walking and losing weight in the comfort of your own home irrespective of what the weather is doing outside. You can even watch your favorite program while exercising and losing weight!

I hope these treadmill statistics will inspire you to get a treadmill and workout at least 3 times a week to not only lose weight, but to feel great and energized.
