Treatment For Adult Acne

By: yangguang04 Home | Health-and-Fitness | Acne

Many adults can experience sudden breakouts at any time of their lives even if they did not experience acne when they were younger. It can affect your self esteem and confidence just as much as it would do if you were a teenage sufferer. Here are a few facts about adult acne and some tips of how to rid of it.

There are several causes of acne in adults. These include persistent blockage of the pores with the use of heavy makeup and moisturizers. Sometimes women note that acne flares up right before their menstrual cycle begins. Hormones cause the sebaceous glands to overact and birth control pills with androgen in them can cause breakouts. Hormonal imbalance is the primary cause, and stress may be one of the number one causes for hormonal imbalance. Stress can also cause your oil glands to overcompensate. Working in an environment where industrial chemicals containing chlorine is used will cause acne.

The adult acne may be due to continues physical pressure on your facial skin known as acne mechanical. Examples of this condition are holding a violin between the jaw and chin and the straps of a backpack. Some medications can induce acne. These medications include anabolic steroids, some anti-epileptic medications, the anti-tuberculosis drugs, some birth control pills and medication containing lithium and iodine.

The following treatments can be effective for adult acne. First of all check your skin care products that you are using. Some cleaners or soap that you are using might not be suitable for your skin type. Normally a gentle cleaning solution is suitable for all type of skins.

Surgical treatment is becoming more popular for an acne treatment today. With the advancement of technology laser surgery is quickly replacing the conventional surgical tools.

A person who is infected with adult acne should limit sun exposure and should avoid oil-based cosmetics. Regular washing of the affected area cleanses the bacteria and clogged pores. It is also recommended that one consult with a dermatologist.

Since stress levels can boost androgen production and increase incidence of adult cases of acne, you should also work on lowering stress levels. Try to find an activity that you can easily do that helps keep you mentally in balance. Prayer, meditation, and exercise disciplines or even committing to daily aerobic exercise may help clear up the skin as much as any other treatment.

That apart, it is important to keep the skin clean and well cared for, as well as including plenty of water, raw fruits, and vegetables in your daily diet. Some people may also go in for hormone therapy, which seeks to redress the body's hormonal imbalances by lowering androgen levels.

You have a wide array of choice for acne treatments. Whatever methods of treatment that you choose is fine as long as it is effective and most importantly your acne problem is solved. Acne problem not only affected your look but deep inside it also affected your self esteem.
