Try The North West For Some Of The Best Golf Vacations In Ireland.

By: Larry Reid Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Golf

The North West of Ireland is often neglected as many holiday makers head for the lush green fields of the south. But this largely undiscovered part of the country, with its harsh countryside open to the winds off the Atlantic has much to offer †as those looking for golf vacations in Ireland are increasingly finding. This striking, open, windswept countryside is matched by the character and style of Glashedy Links golf course. Glashedy is fast establishing itself as one of the world’s most memorably and challenging and is already is destined, many experts believe, for recognition as one of the world's finest links. It’s a must for anyone interested in Irish golf packages.

At 7,000 yards in length it makes the most of this largely empty countryside and anyone used to playing in more crowded surroundings or built up areas will immediately appreciate the sense of space and openness. Those booking golf vacations in Ireland are often keen on this style of course and Glashedy doesn’t disappoint.

You’ll find, though, that there is no gentle introduction here. Opening with three mighty par fours, you’ll be drawn away from the clubhouse and deep into the windswept dunes. And if the wind doesn’t take your breath away then the views will. People often chhose Ireland golf packages because of the scenery and those who find themselves here will have their greatest expectations met.

Not too far away is the wild and rugged Atlantic coastline with its cliffs and seabirds. The towering cliffs of Sliabh Liag are contrasted with long beaches, empty except for golden sands, stretching away into the distance. The beautiful deserted islands and each individual and are unique strongholds of traditional culture. Ireland golf packages to this part of the country simply don’t get any more memorable.
