Understanding The Intricacies Of Sleep Apnea

By: Helene Glasper Home | Health-and-Fitness | Diabetes

If you are experiencing excessive sleepiness during the day and frequent episodes of obstructive breathing during sleep, there is a high possibility that you are suffering from sleep apnea. This kind of sleep malfunction is often characterized by loud snoring, morning headaches, uncomfortable sleep, dry mouth upon awakening and even change in personality. Sleep apnea has been the cause of depression among many people around the world that medical experts have come up with a device to deal with it called the cpap.

Cpap or the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure was specifically designed for the treatment of sleep apnea. This device was initially used as a source of ventilation later on in the intensive care units of hospitals. Obstructive sleep apnea works by narrowing down the upper airway during sleep that reduces the entry of oxygen in the blood. cpap is used to prevent this phenomenon through putting in a stream of compressed air using a hose to manage obstructive breathing.

A person with the symptoms of sleep apnea is diagnosed using a sleep test called the ploysomnography generally composed of the monitoring of brainwaves, eye movements, muscle tension and oxygen level in the blood. If your sleep apnea is mild, you can do home monitoring and behavioral observations. Together with the use of cpap, sleeping on your side and losing weight are recommended practices to cure the disorder.

cpap basically emphasizes the importance of regular breathing during sleep and further enhancing the essence of having a sound sleep during the night. By regulating the breathing process, a person can have the luxury of maintaining proper system functions in the body. Through the use of the device, people suffering from sleep disturbances can now do away with the dangers of snoring and breathing irregularly.

During sleep, the body’s natural processes occur and disturbance of sleep means a deterioration of body functions. It is high time that man should be thankful with technological advancements which are specially dealing for his health benefits. Sleep as essential as the air we breathe and the food we take in. If you feel like there is something wrong with your slumber, you can consult the doctor for professional diagnosis. For more information visit to our site at http://www.us-med.com
