Upholstery cleaning is a great and simple way to beautify your home. Clean upholstery can be quite distinctive and it adds to the decorations of your house. It is important to pick and clean your upholstery with care. For a thorough clean, you will need a steam cleaning machine, a hover, white towels, a light scrub brush, detergents and some cover for the floors and nearby items. Before you begin to clean, test your furniture first for colour fast, dye bleed and ET and make sure that the corner or edges of the upholstery don’t contain blades or pins which may hurt you. Begin your cleaning by vacuuming your upholstery. This will loosen up the dirt and suck out most of the dirt that has borrowed into the fabric. When you do this, make sure that you vacuum the corners and hidden sides well, as dust may quickly reappear if you don’t. To remove stains, apply a small amount of water and detergent and clean with a steam cleaning machine. When you do this, remember to cover the surrounding area of the stain, especially wooden parts, as the chemicals might discolor or damage them. You can use the light brush to remove stains that are harder to remove. Once you’ve cleaned all the stains, use a blow dryer to dry your furniture quickly as leaving it damp might cause it to smell. One thing to remember when upholstery cleaning is to put your carpet at a distance to avoid it getting damaged from the chemicals that you use. Also, avoid cleaning around heavily damaged areas in the upholstery as repeatedly moving cuts will only make it larger. Lastly, if you feel that you are not up for the job, just call a cleaning service and have them clean your upholstery for you. They are not expensive to hire and often give satisfactory jobs and leave your furniture upholstery well-cleaned and looking like new.
