The State of Montana's official website offers the citizens of the state several online services that make transacting with the state government much easier. Acknowledging the importance of the Internet as a medium for communicating and governing constituents, the state has added more online services to serve its 'customers' better. The latest online services to be offered are the market permits and the sheep transportation permits. Before the market permits and the sheep transportation permits were made available in the online services section of the state website, livestock producers had to get the necessary permits from the Department of Livestock through a permit writer or an authorized local agent. This meant that people who lived in far flung areas had to travel long distances to acquire the permits needed for transporting sheep, horse and cattle from farms to the marketplace. With the online permitting service, livestock producers can now simply go online, purchase the necessary permits using a debit or credit card, print the permit and be ready to transport the livestock. These two services certainly make it easier for livestock producers to do business. The online services save them time and money. The online services are also available in the State of Montana's website 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While the online permits are more expensive by $1.03, transacting online still saves livestock producers money because of the current costs of fuel prices which livestock producers would have spent traveling to the permit writer just to get market permits and sheep transportation permits. The Montana State website also offers residential mortgage lender entity and branch applications online. All businesses that plan to engage in residential mortgage loans are required to get a license from the state. Now application and the complete set of requirements are available online. Aside from making it easier for business entities to apply for licenses, this online service and the process of licensing mortgage companies are meant to protect the citizens of Montana. Different types of state taxes can also now be paid through the online services section of the website. The following taxes can be transacted online: withholding tax for businesses, corporation license, rental vehicle taxes, oil & gas and cigarette coupons and liquor coupons. The following new tax types can also be transacted online: Brewers & Beer Distributors, Wineries and Wine Distributors and Mineral Royalty Withholding. State individual taxes can also be paid through the website using a credit card or an eCheck. Hunting and fishing licenses can also be applied for online which makes getting hunting and fishing licenses in the state of Montana fast and easy. Another featured online service of the website is the 'Find Convicted Felons' which helps citizens view records of felons in the state of Montana. The extensive search options allow searching by name, type of offence, and other details. Aside from the online services, the state website also offers important information on the following areas of life in Montana: Tourism and Recreation, Working and Living, Business, Government and Education.
