If you are a person who loves beaches and sea shores and can spend hours sitting on the sand watching sea then you should visit Outer Banks in North Carolina. The Outer Banks (also known as OBX) is a 200-mile (320-km) long string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina, beginning in the southeastern corner of Virginia Beach on the east coast of the United States. The Outer Bank cover approximately half the northern North Carolina coastline including areas of Carova Beach, Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. These beaches are so beautiful and provide the visitors to do a number of activities over there. Some of the regions are of historical importance while others are attractive and provide modern water sports activities.
The Outer Banks is a major tourist destination and is known for its temperate climate and wide expanse of open beachfront. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore has four campgrounds where visitors may camp. It is a must visit place for people who do loves adventures and want to enjoy the adventure during their trip to Outer Banks. The area also has a light house whose light can be seen from 20 miles away. All the adventurous water activities can be done in the great beaches of the region. Jet skiing, kite surfing, parasailing, sailing, wreck fishing and beach volley ball are some of the activities that you can enjoy once you are there in the area. You can also try four-wheeling or dune buggy riding OR takes a hike or bike ride, go on nature tour or try your hands on hang gliding.
The other interesting thing which you can enjoy in the region is a play about Lost Colony, which is considered as the longest running drama of United States. The history about the arrival of English can also be recollected from the local people and places. One can also visit Roanoke Island which is home to Festival Park and all of its art galleries and museums. A 16th century sail boat can be seen on the island. By visiting the places like Battle of Roanoke, Freemen's Colony and the Fanny, you will get to know the civil war history. The sea shores near to known for ship wrecks accidents as number of them have already occurred in the place. In the Graveyard of Atlantic, you can come closer to unfortunate accidents that have taken place in the Outer banks area. With so many great destinations along the Carolina shore, it would be very difficult to decide that where you will visit first when you are in the city.
